A Flicker of Us

The story

In a dusty rural town in Western Nigeria during the late 1980s, two fifteen-year-old girls, Tiwa Bada and Lase “Lala” Lawal, are each other’s lifeline. Bright, driven, and burdened by their families’ expectations, they share a dream of escaping poverty, winning scholarships, and building a better future together. After promising to stay focused and leave together, Lala persuades Tiwa to attend a local party on the eve of their final exams. Lala leaves early, telling Tiwa to stay and have fun for both of them. That night changes everything.
